Two men caught because of stealing $570,000 money from Star Casino. As well as, they stole $170,000 in chips from Casino. Their names were Ziyi Liui and Hieu Duc Lam. On September 9, They were arrested for their alleged involvement in the baccarat scam.
In early September, The NSW Police Organised Crime Squad’s Casino and Racing Investigation Unit organised a strike team to investigate the men.
Liu was taken into custody at a casino car park in Sydney. Also, Lam was arrested at home in Canley Heights, western Sydney.
Police executed a search warrant at the Canley Heights home. In addition, seized the cash, electronic storage devices and US currency. According to another search warrant at Ryde, the police seized casino chips and about $300,000 in cash. The men were charged due to the three counts of dishonestly gaining a financial advantage.
Liu entered pleas of not guilty on all charges at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday. Court documents claimed Liu cheated on three times while he was playing baccarat between September 7 and 8. He got sums of $24,000, $32,000 and $44,000. Also, Lam’s matter was adjourned until the second week of November.
Inspector John Cosgrove said that these types of things are caught up quickly with the systems. There is a lot of cameras, so your actions and movements are monitored. Before the court, the police gathered the evidence to put these men.
